Bears run all over Cards

The Chicago Bears rolled up 283 yards rushing as part of 440 yards of total offense as they cruised past the St. Louis Cardinals 22-7.

With the Big Red defense keying on Walter Payton, fullback Robin Earl popped a 53 yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Earl finished with 100 yards on 12 carries.

Even when being the focus of the defense, Payton still carried 30 times for 114 yards and a score. Roland Harper added another 61 yards on the ground.

The Bears defense double teamed Mel Gray most of the game, Cards QB Jim Hart managed only 98 yards passing. Gray was held without a catch.
