Griese throws three TD's as Dolphins get in the win column

Bob Griese threw for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Miami Dolphins routed the San Francisco 49ers 31-13 in San Francisco.

The Dolphins, who were plagued by turnovers and settled for field goals in their shocking week one loss to Buffalo, had no such issues in California.

Five different Miami running backs carried the ball at least six times, led by Benny Malone's 11 carries for 60 yards. Miami ran for 166 yards as a team.

Duriel Harris led the Dolphins with 102 yards receiving. He caught a 71 yard bomb from Griese to put the game on ice.

Bears run all over Cards

The Chicago Bears rolled up 283 yards rushing as part of 440 yards of total offense as they cruised past the St. Louis Cardinals 22-7.

With the Big Red defense keying on Walter Payton, fullback Robin Earl popped a 53 yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Earl finished with 100 yards on 12 carries.

Even when being the focus of the defense, Payton still carried 30 times for 114 yards and a score. Roland Harper added another 61 yards on the ground.

The Bears defense double teamed Mel Gray most of the game, Cards QB Jim Hart managed only 98 yards passing. Gray was held without a catch.
